When Kelli (Linda Cardellini, Freaks & Geeks, Brokeback Mountain) returns home from war, she expected to slowly but surely settle back into her life with her husband (Michael Shannon, Boardwalk Empire) and kids in the small town she grew up in. But she gradually realizes that the life she left behind is no longer there waiting for her. Depicting Kelli’s struggle to find her place in a life she no longer recognizes, Linda Cardellini delivers a tour de force performance, leading an all-star cast that also includes John Slattery (Mad Men). Proudly presented by DaDa Films and Focus World, a division of Focus Features, dedicated to seeking out the best in international, independent, and documentary cinema.

Hudson Valley Produced Film Starring Linda Cardellini Set For Distribution

A Hudson Valley film is in the news again as the film Return, shot locally in Newburgh-Beacon area was picked up for distribution by Focus World, the Online Distribution Wing of Focus Features. Return, written and directed by Liza Johnson, is the story of a young woman (Cardellini) who must adjust to civilian life after coming home from the war in Afghanistan. Focus World will be available for on-demand viewing starting February 28th.

Although Return is set in Ohio, according to producer Noah Harlan the Hudson Valley was a perfect fit, “We wanted to find an area that had a lot of those qualities to it and Newburgh made a lot of sense for us. In particular, this area had that look that we were looking for. It’s a mixture of a kind of de-industrialized landscape with a lot of natural beauty and the river.”

In addition to shooting in Newburgh and Beacon, Return made filming stops in Walden, New Windsor and Cornwall. As part of the production process, a new facility was certified, with help from the Hudson Valley Film Commission, by the New York State Governors office for Motion Picture and Television Development.

The production facility was the site of the new Motorcyclepedia Motorcycle Museum located at 250 Lake Street in Newburgh, which opened in April 2011. Owner Ted Doering has since had another soundstage certified in Newburgh, The Umbra Soundstage. Umbra has two gigantic spaces, one measuring 16,000 square feet and another tops 20,000. The soundstage is the largest between New York City and Syracuse.
Productions using this regional stage, will now qualify for the Empire State Film Production Tax Credit program. For details about the tax credit, please visit http://www.nylovesfilm.com/tax.

Former ‘ER’ Star Linda Cardellini Raves About ‘Crazy Miracle’ Of Pregnancy

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Former “ER” star Linda Cardellini is pregnant with her first child and glowing over experience, but she admits the first few months were less than pleasant.
“Morning sickness was terrible the first four months,” the actress told Access Hollywood at the March of Dimes’ 6th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon in Los Angeles on Friday. “It was awful. I was kind of a monster!”
Fortunately, the actress, 36, says the morning sickness has finally passed, allowing her to relax and experience the wonder of becoming a mom.
“Now I feel great, and it’s amazing and I can feel kicking and it’s a totally unbelievable experience,” she told Access. “It’s a little bit like ‘Alien’ in science fiction and then also it’s a crazy miracle.”
As for the sex of the baby, the former “Freaks and Geeks” star said she and husband Steven Rodriguez know the gender of their impending arrival, but are having trouble narrowing down a name selection.
“We do [know the sex]. Do we tell? I don’t know,” she said, when asked if she’s expecting a boy a girl. “Sometimes I slip.”
And slip she did just moments later, telling Access, “We have five different names — we’ll just pick out of a hat when we see her.”

Linda Cardellini, it's now or never so please make your Best Actress nomination happen for Return! It's time for you to become a household name like I always wanted twelve years ago when I saw you on "Freaks and Geeks". I love you and good luck on becoming a great mother :-)
